Everyone knows that the arrival of spring means cleaning out the dusty corners of our houses and freshening up our home environment, but not many of us think of spring cleaning at work. Why is this? We spend (approximately) one-third of our lives working so in my opinion spring cleaning our work environment is just as important and beneficial as spring cleaning your home.
Here are my three favorite ways to “Spring Clean” your work environment
In order to fight against this opportunity for negativity your #1 spring cleaning task should be adopting the “Day Before Vacation” attitude, as Zig Ziglar recommends. I know the day before I go on vacation I always have a list and plan out every single task I need to get finished before I can leave, and I have the motivation to power through them all and ignore/prioritize distractions in a better way. Adopting this same strategy for your workday will drastically improve your productivity while at work, and in turn make for more a satisfying and positive work experience.
Get your desk out of its messy winter funk and organize yourself. Spending as little as 45 minutes on organization will save that time 10X over once it’s done. If you're not quite sure where to start HERE are some tips on organizing your desk and office.
This one has two parts, so here is the first: Likely the biggest reason they are tired is because they are not fueling themselves property. Just getting enough sleep is not sufficient to keep your energy up, you have to feed your body correctly or it just does not have what it needs to function and stay energized. Consider going to a local nutritionist for a month-long eating plan to see if changing your diet (even in a minor way) will boost your energy levels – or you can even see if your gym has a diet coaching plan.
Speaking of your gym, here is “why am I so tired” #2: GET MOVING! Studies have shown that not only is regular exercise good for your physical health, but it can also increase energy levels and help fight fatigue.
Give yourself the best opportunity to enjoy this beautiful spring season by spring cleaning your home PLUS spring cleaning your work.
Elysia and I ventured out to the Isle of Palms to photograph the shirt her clothing company just launched. (how cool is that?!) She's a busy entrepreneur, but there's always time for an outing on a beautiful island.
Our shoot was on a weekday, so luckily we had a nice quiet spot to work in, we only had to duck away from cars a couple of times. Not bad!
Ok, now I'm gonna share the photos from her newly released shirt - which I've had to keep secret until she was ready to release the shirt! (By the way, if you love it just head on over to Inspire Thread Co. and get yourself one)
How gorgeous is she!? Plus she knows how to strut her stuff in front of the camera.
The shirt she's modeling is inspired after Josh Stefanski, a music performer from Phoenix, Arizona. He's been playing the piano since he was 10, and he recently graduated from ASU with a degree in piano.
Make sure to check out Elysia's company, Inspire Thread Co to see more awesome clothing inspired after some pretty amazing young people. I, personally, love to see the millennial generation out making a difference and changing lives!
When I heard about the super cool new venture a friend of mine decided to jump into I immediately asked her to be a guest blogger - her idea so fits into all of the things I love, and I've actually wanted to do something similar! (So far the hubby has vetoed the idea - but I'm still working on it) Here's her amazing idea! <3 Kelsey
