My husband, my two youngest sisters, and I are going on a 10 day cruise this month.....so I may or may not have been obsessing about what to pack since we booked it. (FYI.....we booked it before our wedding) :-)
We're cruising with Norwegian Cruise Line out of New York City, and visiting 4 different islands.
My sisters and I are SO excited, but Dave is a bit terrified. :) He doesn't trust boats this size to float. Damn smart geeky kids.
In preparation for this trip Dave and I have done quite a bit of shopping - we bought snorkel sets, we bought a whole kit for our GoPro so we can bring it with us snorkeling.
I wanted some new clothes (I don't actually need any, but any excuse works for me) so I decided to get a Stitch Fix! I told my stylist I was going on a cruise, but I forgot to tell her it was a Caribbean cruise. She sent me an amazing Fix, but it was a "transition into fall" fix, not a "you're going to be on a ship in the Caribbean" Fix.
They come packaged so cute! My stylist put it together off of my Pinterest board (I may be slightly obsessed with Pinterest) so I may possibly have loved everything....except that none of it was "cruise worthy".
She sent me the most comfortable pair of black jeans EVER...and can we please talk about this jacket?! I NEVER find jackets that actually fit me (I'm rather long...) so when I put this on and it fit absolutely perfectly I had to keep it.
She also sent me the cutest black top. I LOVE it. It's sleeveless, with a comfy soft under layer, and chiffon top layer.
I forgot to take a photo of the Chevron bib necklace she sent me (not the necklace in the photo above....that's courtesy of my lovely bargain shopping husband) but I will definitely bring that one on our cruise.
I only have a week left to pack for our cruise, so I'll have to take a second peek into my closet and attempt to put together a good wardrobe for the Caribbean.....but I am extremely happy with my segway into fall Stitch Fix.
Ok - I don't have any jitters about actually getting (or being) married - but the fact that we're about to get on a plane to another country, and the entirety of my wedding is being packed into a duffle bag....yep I've got a few jitters.
I'm SO glad (for more reasons than I can even list) that we decided to have a destination wedding - it has saved us so much time/stress/money/worry/etc. It has, however, been a little bit of a challenge, since we really aren't doing anything the "traditional" way.
To avoid spending a ridiculous amount of money on the ceremony we've decided to be married simply on the beach - no big arches and flowers, no crazy petals in the "aisle", nothing. We love the ocean, and honestly I don't think we could really add more beauty to the already perfect scene. *we shall see if my logic is correct when this whole thing goes down. :-)
At this point it's a little bit too late to change anything - so I've got to keep my fingers crossed and hope I didn't forget anything big! As to the finer details, I'll report back after our trip. <3
That's all for now folks - next time I post I'll officially be a Mrs.
They say the best things in life are free - I don't always agree - but in the case of Influenster boxes I think the saying is true.
This month I got a fabulous box of FULL-SIZED products from Dessange Paris USA to test. Check it out!
As a girl with some crazy long hair, I LOVE any opportunity for inexpensive but good quality products, so the chance to try these for free had me pretty thrilled. I've been using it for about a week now and so far I love it. My hair feels great, and it smells really good too, added bonus. I haven't tried the brass color correcting creme yet, that is on my list for next week.
Here is a list of the products I received:
When it comes to Christmas we (my family, fiance, etc) don't do too much anymore....we all choose for our "Secret Santa" gift, but we don't allow gift buying otherwise. (Listen....when you've got 4 siblings, plus their wives/parents/kids/cousins, etc. it is impossible to buy for everyone without going broke) The only exception is for the kids - we're allowed to spoil them! And since so far our family only has 2 little ones, they sure do get spoiled!
David (aka. The Fiance) has been very generous in his gifts to me every year....even though he isn't supposed to get me anything! This year he bought me this gorgeous SeaBag from the outlet in Freeport, Maine. He actually gave me a couple choices and let me choose which I would like best. The beauty you see on the left was my choice! I would definitely recommend checking out the fabulous products at their Freeport or Portland, Maine stores.
I bought myself a new pair of Reebok All-Terrain Super sneakers this year to replace an older pair of Brooks I'd been running in. They are SO comfy, and super light. Check out my #ReebokOne profile and browse some of my favorite products!
My "Secret Santa" this year was actually my father, and he decided to go clothes shopping for me.....oh my goodness. He shopped at Marshall's, and bought me our shopping limit ($75) in AWFUL, UGLY, TOO-SMALL clothes. Hahaha! He said that he wanted me to have something to open, rather than just getting me a giftcard. After I returned the lovely... choices he made I now have a shopping spree. :-) I can't complain about that!
This year I decided to treat myself to a new purse that I have been OBSESSING over on Etsy, and so far I absolutely love it. This fabulous shop "Rough & Tumble Bags" is in Maine, and they make some gorgeous handmade bags - definitely check them out when you are choosing your next handbag or tote.
Overall - spoilfest! I know I'm a little late in sharing what my holiday was like, but I figure better late than never. :)
This year is our last year in Maine for the holidays, so I am glad we were able to see as much family as we were. (We spent Christmas Eve with David's parents, Christmas day with mine, and then we spent New Years Eve with my parents again)
Next year who knows where we will be during the holidays, but I will definitely be looking back on this year with smiles, and looking forward to the next time we get to spend precious time with our family.
