I think I've mentioned (at least in my "about" section) that I am a personal fitness trainer - well I recently joined a challenge with a few friends of mine to run 2015 miles in 2015. (Check out the specifics of the challenge HERE) We have four members on our team, so that equals out to about 2 miles/day/person. I joined the challenge for a several reasons, but these are definitely my top few:
At the end of my run one of my sisters met me at the gym to play a little dodge ball, and of course I added some squat jumps to the list of things to "practice" while we were playing. :)
She wasn't really impressed with this exercise....hence her seriousness in the last photo...haha....but we had some fun, and then she suggested her own favorite exercise. One that I am NOT good at...clearly.
Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Ouch I pinched a nerve. Fail. Fail. Fail. Almost fell on my face. Fail. Fail. EEK! Almost!
Then here she is with some sweet moves ^ acting like this stuff is easy. Maybe someday I'll get the moves.
I did most of my handstands up against the racquetball court wall, because otherwise I wimp out and don't kick myself high enough. The couple that I did in the middle of the room weren't very impressive.
She is working on spinal flexibility and core strength, which is why she's doing the handstand variations she is. Currently I'm lucky to just stay inverted.....she says it gets easier. I got some good photos of her, and she had some good laughs at me!
My attempts at spinal flexibility handstands weren't quite as pretty, but I stayed inverted at least!!
The "winter blues" remedy we used was handstands and some dodge ball, which was honestly more laughing and shouting random cues at each other - but we accomplished our initial goal of warming up our muscles and getting rid of some of the dreary winter blues.
Handstands. Dodge ball. Running.
Try them. :-)
